Applying for a school place

Rickley Park Primary School is a co-operative academy, at the heart of its community, and caters for children from Nursery to Year 6 (3-11 years old).  As an academy our admission arrangements are clearly set out in our Admissions Policy.  This is available to download below or, on request, available in paper form from the school office.

Rickley Park School Admissions Policy

If your child is starting school for the first time (September 2018)

Milton Keynes Local Authority currently co-ordinate the admissions arrangements for all children starting school for the first time. Admission packs can be downloaded or received by post from Milton Keynes Council. The council will notify you in writing offering a place for your child.

Applications for admissions into Primary schools (Reception classes) need to be made by 15th January 2018, for places in September 2018.

To help you decide if Rickley Park is the right school for you and your child we are offering the following open sessions:

1.30pm on 5th December 2017

What if the school has too many applications?

Where the number of applications for admissions is greater than the published admission number, applications will be considered against the criteria set out below.

After the admission of students with statements of Special Education Needs where Rickley Park Primary School is named on the statement, the criteria will be applied in the order in which they are set out below:

1) Children who are in care, including those who were previously in care, who immediately after being in care became subject to an adoption, or residence or special guardianship order within the last year.

2) Children who live in the defined area and have a sibling on roll at the time of admission. Proof of residence may be required.

3) Children who live in the defined area served by the school. Proof of residence may be required.

4) Children who live outside the defined area and have a sibling on roll at the time of admission.

5) Children who live outside the defined area of the school.

The defined area for our school

  • Housing area bounded by Shenley Road odd numbers 101 upwards), Whaddon Way (79-249 odd numbers) and Tattenhoe Lane and that area to the south east of Whaddon Way bounded by Shenley Road (even numbers 20-86), Church Green Road (odd numbers only), Rickley Lane and Whalley Drive to and including Roche Gardens, Park Gardens and Elmers Park.
  • North eastern area of Windmill Hill which includes Gleneagles Close, Hunstanton Way, Moor Park, Portrush Close, Sunningdale Way and Walton Heath.
  • Bletchley Park which includes Alford Place, Colossus Way, Enigma Place, Faulkner Drive, Hinsley Walk, Turing End, Turing Gate and Ultra Avenue.

PLEASE NOTE: If your child attends the Rickley Park Primary School and you choose to apply for a place in the main school your application will be processed against the same criteria as all applications.  Attendance at the Nursery does not give children any additional rights to a place at the school.
